Byrd Olivieri Atelier’s NYFW Fashion presentation

Last night the Byrd Olivieri Atelier Fashion Presentation brought the art and fashion communities together for an experience that highlighted creativity and expression through wearable art, community collaboration, and support. In a small venue in Brooklyn, exquisite pieces were showcased on live models, accompanied by live painted designs from collaborating artists and featuring music by AgentDMZ.

The star of the show was designer Byrd Olivieri himself, who presented his highly anticipated second collection, demonstrated by models in a series of dynamic runway shows. The audience was able to see the collection in all its glory, and it was clear that the designer had put his heart and soul into each piece.

One of the standout elements of the collection was the use of denim fabrics upcycled from old jeans. Olivieri showed that fashion can be sustainable, and he proved that recycled materials can be used to create beautiful and unique pieces. "I hate waste," he explains. So he started reusing his old jeans, and when he finished the first pieces, he thought he should keep doing it. In the end, he used 70 pairs of vintage jeans for this collection.

The second part of Olivieri's collection, presented later in the evening, consisted of many bright colors and avant-garde cuts. "I usually like much darker colors. So this was a challenge for me," Olivieri said. The use of Liquid Organza and Liquid Satin gave the collection a futuristic look that was enhanced by the unique cuts and designs of the clothing. "The colors and looks were not exactly planned. The only thing that was planned were the designs. But whatever my mind tells me to do is the direction it goes," Olivieri said, describing his approach. Byrd Olivieri has been designing for 15 years and moved to New York six years ago to further his career. He will show this collection at Art Basel. "I'm just grateful. To get all these positive reactions tonight makes me so happy. People are traveling from so far to see this tonight. I'll cry later, right now I'm going to enjoy the night!"

In addition to fashion, the event featured unique live painted designs by collaborating New York artists Ian Cinco, Leviyev.art, Adrian Bermeo and Bee Symone. Olivieri and his friend Erika Tea, founder of Earth Skull and co-sponsor of the event, met the artists at a recent listening party in New York. "We met the artists at that party, liked the art, and then reached out for a collaboration." explains Olivieri. The collaboration included a large print that hung on a wall in the venue, featuring a character from artist Ian Cinco`s comic book characters wearing Olivieri's Liquid "Gomez" coat from his new collection. New York born and raised graffiti artist Leviyev.art later tagged his signature quote "Dream until it's your reality" on the print, making it a three-way collaboration. When asked about the meaning of his tag, he said, "The reason I write it is because you have to work for your reality, but in small steps. You can't go from zero to a hundred. You have to build a safety net or you'll fall. So you have to go step by step." Adrian Bermeo, who works as an artist in New York, contributed with paintings and tags on Olivieri's clothing and canvases around the venue. Bermeo drew and painted as a young child, and his graffiti work then pushed him to New York galleries. Last year, he moved to Brooklyn to immerse himself in the Brooklyn art scene. "It's the best underground event I've been to here," He says, "We need more of these ungentrified art events in Brooklyn."

In summary, the Byrd Olivieri Atelier Fashion Presentation event was a celebration of art, fashion and community and left a lasting impression on all who attended.
