Almost 200K at CeeCee’s Closet

It is the 21st century, fashion brands need to produce way more than good products. Marketing awareness and social media presence play a big role and can help any brand elevate their audience. As a small-business, CeeCee’s Closet is doing big things!

Through their business, the American-Nigerian sisters Uchenna and Chioma have empowered many women and their families both in the USA and in Nigeria. They were able to do so with CeeCee’s Closet, a fashion brand that carries a variety of bright and joyful clothing pieces - from bonnets to crop tops, from headwraps to exfoliating nets - along with accessories and beauty products.

Uchenna and Chioma’s store is a perfect example of how a brand can count many kinds of products, focus on one intentional goal, and be consistent with its marketing skills. With over 6K posts, the sister-duo was able to build a platform of almost 200K (188K) followers on Instagram. Digital engagement can change the game, and staying on schedule is key.

If you’re reading this and you want to get inspired by watching a vibrant and neat brand, CeeCee’s Closet can be your first role model to put on your mood board!

What are the values and the core elements inside Cee Cee's Closet?

At Cee Cee’s Closet NYC, we value centering the beauty and grace of Black women through our marketing. We also endeavor to create economic opportunities in our respective communities: Brooklyn, New York and Lagos, Nigeria. Although we make clothes and products for people of diverse backgrounds, we still understand the importance of highlighting our heritage and our communities.

Tell us a bit about your brand. Who's behind it (the CEO) and what is the main story?

Chioma Ngwudo is the CEO behind the brand while Uchenna is the creative director. You can read more about our story on the about us page.

How important are your heritage and personal culture in the products you sell?

Our heritage influences the prince that we choose for our collections. We also use our culture for the styling and settings of our photo and video shoots.

Is fashion something you've always wanted to be part of?

Fashion is definitely something that we've always wanted to be a part of from a young age. When we were little girls, we used to draw outfits on pieces of paper. Then we would take our old clothing and sew little outfits for our Barbie dolls. Growing up watching shows like America's Next Top Model and Project Runway helped us push our interest further and learn more about the industry.

Your social media content has an upbeat rhythm, always in alignment with the current trends and themes. How do you plan your content?

To plan out our content, We use a content calendar on Google Sheets and a project management tool called ClickUp. The content calendar ensures that we post a variety of content on our page for the different categories of products that we sell. ClickUp enables us to collaborate with our digital marketing assistant to create content. We can post trends and our interpretation of that inspiration all in one place. Working with project management software keeps us organized and saves us time. Finally we use Facebook Creator Studio to schedule post for Instagram. Of course, we post spontaneously from time to time. We also share BTS (behind-the-scenes) moments on our lives and stories, but the ability to schedule posts helps us execute our marketing campaigns.
