Four small-European brands to look out for during the FW22

What a great thing it is when creativity springs forth not only from young minds but also from global situations! Fashion On The Beat is dedicated to fostering fresh talent, and as we wait for Europe's Fashion Week (London, Paris, and Milan) to begin, we've compiled a list of brands to keep an eye on. These are small-women-led businesses that caught our eyes throughout Europe, including Italy and the UK.

Romy Calzado is an Italian fashion and textile designer with Cuban roots. She creates, collaborates with Etro, and even teaches fashion. On her website, you will not discover a typical sample book, but rather the tale of the garment expressed through mood boards.

Peju Obasa is a London-based womenswear designer. Her work is vibrant and textured, incorporating printing/dyeing as well as tenacious knitting techniques to create unique pieces. Her colorful Nigerian roots mean she is constantly delving into old customs and twisting them into something new. starting with a strand of yarn and finishing with a lovely handcrafted piece taking inspiration from her curious travels and everything from the food she adores cooking to the brightly colored building facades on odd streets. “Our business is built on the principles of sustainability, and we strive to design with eco-friendly materials in mind”. That is how the web designer introduces herself. Fashion On The Beat can't get enough of the idea of completely handcrafted bags produced from recycled and ecological materials that combine several traditions. Check out the bags here.

Lucrezia Kauffmann

Another designer whose work is influenced by international customs. Lucrezia Kauffmann is the creator of the Italian brand of the same name, in which surreal imagery is a repeating theme: the famous zipper on the front of the bags is a portal into Lucrezia Kauffmann's dreamlike cosmos.

In addition, as announced on the website, to the already existing collections of bags and leather goods, soon the brand LK will open to new product categories, with the aim of revising the classic approach to fashion, for those who want to make their look out of the box and definitely new.

Claudia Sarria

Claudia Sarria is the founder of MaisonClaudiaSarria, a recently created brand that offers vital handcrafted clothes. She comes from Cuba, travels through Italy, and ends up in Germany. You may see some of the clothes manufactured on the Instagram feed @maisonclaudiasarria.
