For the love of Lizzo: ten of her most iconic outfits

Lizzo is a cultural icon of our time, through feminist songs, body positivity, and proving to us that even celebrities drunk DM people, we have all learned a little bit about ourselves through her. Seemingly easy-going and insanely talented, we’re not here to discuss everything we adore about her, but rather one thing in particular: her style.

Often going from being innately sexy to almost girlish, her looks have run the gamut over the years with nearly as many aesthetics shown in her outfits as Grammys won. This ability to easily flow in and out of different appearances is part of what keeps us coming back for more. While no particular patterns or colors stand out as being her ultimate go-to this is what we can admire about her. The continuous need to test boundaries and find different facets of herself. As we take a look at her style, keep in mind that this is a thought process you should hold when you dress up: be you, your most authentic self.

2016 Tour

Early in her career, this sexy look of Lizzo’s proved to be everything. I mean, who else could pull off a sparkling robe with fur sleeves while performing? It definitely just adds to her talent!

It’s Giving Color and Youth

Perhaps it was Lizzo that brought back 2000s nostalgia because for the 2017 Billboard Music Awards she went all-in with bubble hair accessories, larger-than-life hoop earrings, and a pale peach dress. I don’t know about you, but I love to see almost childish looks on the red carpet- and the comfortable white sneakers were the perfect addition!

Bright Hollywood Glam

Finally bringing in a bit of sex appeal, the dramatic outfit worn for the 2019 GLAAD Media Awards left nothing to be desired. Almost harkening back to the 2016 robe, this neon green ensemble was styled with just a dash of old Hollywood glamor via the slit and wrap style of the dress.

Peachy Cutie Pie

An infamous look simply because of the teeny-tiny Valentino bag, Lizzo’s orange layered dress brought some childlike delight to the 2019 American Music Awards. For everything being so tiny, she certainly makes a big statement!

Sweet Moschino Look

Finally introducing us to a little more of her personality, Lizzo showed up to the 2020 Brit Awards in a milk chocolate dress that resembled a chocolate wrapper. Tailored to perfection, this look provided us with not only a memorable entrance but also a bit of humor.

Angel Lizzo On Earth

Channeling old Hollywood glamor once again with a little bit of Marilyn Monroe flair, Lizzo entered the 2020 Grammy Awards in a stunning and angelic ensemble. Complete with white feathers and a boned corset top, this is a look worth dying for, because you’ll surely enter Heaven with it on!

Colorful Vibes

Taking a cue from the ‘70s, along with some inspiration from the trend of logomania that was on full blast in 2020. Created by Greek fashion designer, Mary Katrantzou, the colorful patchwork dress was unique and bold, with fun game-show details and even Lizzo’s name written into the fabric.

Show Up and Vote!

Lizzo was all about getting people to vote in 2020, from the three-piece suit she posted to Instagram to the ‘VOTE’ dress she wore to the BBMAs, she proved the importance of voting in elections. To highlight the point, even more, she had her nail artist Eri Ishizu, write ‘VOTE’ on her manicure.

Let's Get Creative AF

Entering the realm of Lizzo’s 2022 wardrobe, we have the lace-up dress she wore to the Super Bowl. Using footballs as bra cups, this suggestive dress had plenty of fans and critics alike. But as far as racy Super Bowl looks go, this one is definitely a favorite!

Sporty Lizzo

Finally, it simply wouldn’t be an article about Lizzo’s fashion if we didn’t talk about her shapewear brand Yitty, which was launched on the first of April. To tease the launch she boarded a private plane in butt-bearing leggings to get us all excited. I don’t normally buy into that side of the fashion industry, but I have to admit I’m tempted.
