The founder of MIZIZI talks about his brand and the Future of Fashion
MIZIZI international was founded by Paakow Essandoh, whose entrepreneurial spirit has led his brand to grow rapidly and emerge within the fashion industry. Known as an athletic brand, MIZIZI distinguishes itself from others with unique jersey creations that represent all Black countries, whether it's African countries, the Caribbean, or Latin America. They have partnered with Marvel, Disney, and Viacom to create fictional African countries, such as Wakanda and Zamunda as well for The Lion King. “Mizizi”, which means “roots” in Swahili, faces our values, connection, representation, and celebrations that are all about uplifting the pride in Africans, all around the world,” says Essandoh.

We continue to expand our product offerings and always look outside of like our current core competency, to see what else can we do. What is more out there?”
As the future of the fashion industry shifts into a new era of NFTs and Metaverse, MIZIZI sees that there's a space for that intersection between fashion and technology, and gaming. Paakow States, “We have been looking at what games our customers play so we can sell our products in those games. So that our people not only can represent themselves in physical real life but can also represent themselves in the games that they're playing such as FIFA, 2K (NBA), or other sports games where jerseys are really involved. I've also looked at different ways that we can start incorporating AR, and VR into our products. Since that is the future. But, I believe that if it's not necessarily there, there's no need to force our place in it. I like infrastructure development, you know what I'm saying? I'll just keep an eye on it, but not necessarily, don't have to be an active participant in at least an observer.”
Overall, MIZIZI is ready to take on the future of fashion with creative strategies that continue to satisfy a special niche in athletic wear. With space for the brand to integrate into e-sports and many more innovative ideas to come.
