The quiet fashion fight

Dear Custumers, we know there are many of you all over the world. Ukraine and Ukrainians living in our beautiful homeland are going through the most terrible time in our lives. We really need your support. We are begging you to go the streets to spread the word and fight this terror together”.

She is Anna Osmekhina, the founder of TTSWTRS, an Ukrainian brand that as many others is now supporting and fighting against the unfair war Russia began. “We won’t be the same as before, but the strength and the solidarity shown by Ukraina will get us back on our feet” she declared during an interview on NSSmagazine.

There are no just wars, there is only the misery left behind. If history does not teach us anything but rather repeats itself, it is up to everyone to demonstrate that life does not end, but rather continues, and that, as Anna points out, there is unity. In the realm of fashion, it happens all the time; for example, a moved Giorgio Armani ended Milan Fashion Week by having his model’s parade in perfect quiet. Nothing but faces or supports can put a stop to it.

We mention the message launched by the brand TTSWTRS, which is currently pursuing several initiatives to sustain the rebellion against the Russian authority. On the website is now possible to directly donate to the Ukrainian funds’ collectors, but the most powerful gesture is the flagship stores sponsored on the Instagram page. “Spread the word” is become the new mission of a fashion brand. Even this could happen in times of resistance.

Fashion on the Beat also wants to suggest another Ukrainian brand BEVZA, who is fighting with the same weapon the oppression, sustaining through funds collection and through powerful messages like “The seas submit themselves only to the brave” image does.

BEVZA

BEVZA is a Kyiv-based womenswear brand established in 2006.

The key approach of BEVZA design aesthetic is defined by less and luxe. Sophisticated clean silhouettes, sharp tailoring and soft color palette is the core of each brand's collection. While focusing on chic and sensuality BEVZA provides a new perspective on refined minimalism. BEVZA's key 'white dress concept' is built on the idea of the pure and most iconic piece of clothing.

Updated Ukrainian motives is another trademark of the brand. Exploring the national heritage, the founder and creative director Svitlana Bevza carries out a delicate work with ethnic symbols and cultural codes and reimagines them in a modern way.

In BEVZA we believe in the importance of an ethical attitude towards nature and production. For this reason, we design high-quality products made to last using carefully considered materials and techniques. Our eco-friendly digitally printed coats are the new alternative to fur. And certain knitted pieces are made of recycled plastic and leftovers of fabrics.

TTSWTRS

We — TTSWTRS — are a collaborative project where art entangles with clothes.
The brand was created back in 2013 as a creative project of designer Anna Osmekhina, a former costume designer, fashion editor and stylist.
Starting from a small team of enthusiasts creating clothes as if for themselves, the brand has since then grown into a world-known phenomenon, worn by Nicki Minaj, Kourtney Kardashian, Iryna Shayk, Winnie Harlow, Lena Perminova, Nina Kravitz, Sita Abellan, Lisa Owen, Tommy Cash, Vera Brezhneva, Ksenia Sobchak, and many others.
TTSWTRS has its own Kyiv-based manufacturing factory and printing workshop, showrooms in Kyiv, and Moscow. The brand is selling in more than 12 stores all over the world.

Anna Osmekhina: “The concept of TTSWTRS appeared by a fateful incident that got me involved in the exciting subculture of tattoos. My friend was in a relationship with a tattoo artist who had his whole body covered with tattoos and acted god-like and almighty. I was so thrilled and inspired by his energy that we created a capsule of sweatshirts with the working title «tattoosweaters». The first collection was instantly sold in the legendary Colette. And the rest, as they say, is history. To this moment TTSWTRS has collaborated with 15 multidisciplinary artists and photographers".

A tattoo in its essence is an embodiment of a deliberate choice to live here and now and feel free. This very energy Anna Osmekhina conveys through the clothes. She sees TTSWTRS essential base — the illusion of body covered in tattoos — as an extension of the clothing and skin. After all, skin as a dividing line between our inner and outer world is also the first way of communication. And that is why TTSWTRS is about accepting your own body and expressing yourself through it.
TTSWTRS can’t stay aside from the ecological situation in the world and has initiated art and social initiatives to address environmental problems. Since 2020 the brand has been using solely sustainable fabrics. In 2021 TTSWTRS released the fashion film “Mission” that was sold on an eco-friendly NFT platform and money was donated to Parley for the Oceans.
In 2021 Anna Osmekhina became a No More Plastic Ambassador.

“We started with the main idea of creating an optical illusion of the naked body covered in tattoos. For this, we only used the tattoos that have found their place on someone’s body. But we came a long way since then adding, experimenting and finding new solutions.
Our inspiration is the perception of the body as a canvas and body itself in all its forms and the subculture of tattoos. Our passion is quality, experimenting with content and graphic design. Our goal is to be in line with the era we live in. In TTSWTRS we play our own game and are extremely excited that you decided to join us!”
