Who's Jade Montgomery?
I identify with being a lover, a curious cat, and an artist. By trade, I am a creative project manager, and the owner of brown door company — a wellness lead administrative agency helping BIPOC manage the ebb and flow of their business.
What's your relationship with creativity?
I’d describe my relationship with creativity as a curious one. I find myself returning back to the creative things I loved to do as a child, which has been healing and grounding. I seem to have a new hobby almost every couple of weeks and enjoy exploring my brain through what I create with my hands.
How do you balance your life with the powers of holism?
My spiritual practices tend to flow with how my life is going— and right now, life is chaotic. During this phase of my life, I find spirit reminding me to close my eyes and take a conscious breath. I find her through the random overwhelming sense of gratitude I feel when walking back home from getting groceries. Spirit seems to hold me when I’m away from my practices until I get back. On the day to day, having an altar is essential for balance in my life. My intuition is also a very large part of my life and learning to listen to it (through listening to it more) helps me stay aligned with what’s best for me.
Before holism, how were you doing and what made you become more and more spiritual these last few years?
Trigger warning. A couple of years back, I was very depressed, anxious and had very little desire to improve. My boyfriend at the time committed suicide and I was left very lost, confused and angry for a long time. I couldn’t fathom why the God I knew would let what happened, happen. Later, I met a friend who challenged me to find spirit and an understanding of life outside of what we’ve been shown. That’s where my journey began.
Veganism can be a hard practice and some people can still get skeptical towards it. What are the benefits of this culinary and lifestyle you've adopted for yourself?
I adopted veganism after constant stomach pains, doctors visits with no answers, and a past life regression hypnosis. I received a message during my hypnosis to stop polluting my body with meat and after that, stopping meat consumption was easy. I quit cold turkey and the pain I was experiencing in my body left almost immediately. Since going vegan, I find myself centering on nutrition rather than taste (don’t worry, my food is always flavorful though). Veganism has deepened my intuition, reduced my anxiety, and allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of my holistic health.
Where and when did you find your best connection with holism?
I find my deepest connection to spirit when I’m in nature, alone and surrendered from my thoughts regarding “what’s next”.
How do you want to keep up and forge your healthy habits (in the future)?
A goal I’m working on at the moment is developing and maintaining a regular eating, workout, and spiritual practice. This practice includes an accountability system and leaning on my community to keep me in line when I fall short. Rewarding myself when I do hit milestones is another way I stay in tune with my habits (if you have ADD/ADHD this method is great.)
