Learn the secrets behind healthy hair with beauty brand LUVIH

Hair jealousy can be a real thing. Whether it’s the girl with the perfect ’90s blowout or the guy whose soft and fluffy curls make us ready to exceed our credit limit at the hair salon, it seems almost impossible not to lust after the perfect head of hair. When it comes to this advertisement worthy-hair, it isn’t about drugstore shampoo: the secret often resides in how you care for your scalp. Do you oil it? Massage it? Or do you purchase the cheapest shampoo option, or even the one most hyped up on social media?

At LUVIH, one of the top priorities is taking care of your hair. The brand does extend into skincare, with the ability to shop by skin type as well. After seeing the model’s perfectly coiffed up-dos during NYFW we talked to Lavanya, the founder of LUVIH about daily hair care, recommended products, and her inspiration in starting this brand.

There’s something that everyone can do for healthier hair. What is that?

Depending on your hair type, brushing your hair daily is something that Lavanya recommends. By brushing your hair, you're moving the natural oils from your scalp throughout your head. These oils promote shine, as well as strengthen your hair.

Another easy thing that anyone can do is oil their hair. Whether your hair has plenty of natural oils or is a bit drier, using hair oil is a great way to strengthen and soften your hair. Using this as a regular practice will provide long-term nourishment to your hair.

How do different hair types factor in?

While there are different porosities to hair, we’ve yet to expand into product lines for each hair type. Unless you have curly hair, most hair products will work on all hair types. Shine serums, for instance, can even work on curly hair that tends to need a little more TLC.

The product from LUVIH everyone should use.

Empyreal Shine is one of the best products to buy from LUVIH. Handmade over a sixteen-day process to blend each oil carefully together, this serum promotes both strength and shine to any head of hair. The oils are well-curated too. The formula is a blend of the best oils for your hair; sesame oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, olive oil, castor oil, and almond oil. The hair-growth favorite of rosemary oil is also among the ingredients, along with a few others that restore and condition hair.

When did you get inspired to create LUVIH?

Launched in 2021 LUVIH started the way every brand should start, such as in a home with love. When Lavanya was diagnosed with a heart condition and the medications began to cause her to have acne, she turned to the ingredients in her kitchen to provide herself with skincare. When friends and family began to push her to share these products with others, she realized that the items she’d created could help more people.

Before the initial launch of LUVIH in 2021, Lavanya had worked with chemists and manufacturers for eight years to fully understand the best ways to create and store her amazing beauty elixirs.

How often should you massage your scalp massage?

You might assume that someone who owns a beauty brand with scalp massagers might encourage you to give your scalp a little TLC every day. Thankfully, Lavanya realizes that can be tricky with many people’s busy schedules. At the bare minimum, she recommends you do scalp massages once or twice a week to promote circulation in your scalp. A Kansa crown is a great way to do this.

What is Kansa?

Kansa is a sacred mixture of copper and tin that is designed to promote circulation and pull out impurities. When used in a gua sha the normal benefits of sculpting and shaping your face combine with this added detail for maximum benefits. Along with this, the material being different from stone or crystal allows for it to last longer. Used as a scalp massager in the Kansa Crown the increased circulation helps to promote hair growth.
