HoYeon Jung seen as a tv and fashion sensation

Before becoming a breakout star in the Korean drama, Squid Game, HoYeon Jung already had plenty of skin in the fashion industry. Working as a model for over a decade before being cast as the character of Kang in the show, she had been placed front and center on the runways of Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Marc Jacobs and many more. As one of Karl Lagerfeld’s favorite muses, one must wonder what her je ne sais quoi is. Her style is enigmatic and chic. Exciting and yet classic. And thankfully, the inner stylist in me is ready to break down all of what appear to be her key rules.

The first basic that we see Hung fall for over and over again is that of the boxy denim jacket. Proclaimed by Vogue in 2015 that her signature is both denim and “wide and long pieces” this makes perfect sense. We also see the perpetual repetition of black garments, which gives off an almost goth appearance. To make things a bit easier, allow me to give you a list:

Coming from South Korea, she has a particular adoration for the street style in Seoul. And yet, the look she often gravitates to is that of easy grunge. In many street style images we see time and again bulky sweaters, leather overcoats, and cut-up jeans. With this exciting take on the style, her wardrobe seems to almost be that of a modern ‘90s woman. Clearly making her an ‘it’ girl to us all in the 2020s as there is something so refreshing about that bygone era.

Considering that her brilliant red hair was her previous signature, take a page from Jung’s book and be unafraid if you desire treading away from a natural look. Focus on neutral tones. No matter how casual you are, always remain somewhat elegant.
